SkyCall – Stop Living With Closed Eyes (2024)
Delving into the depths of humanity and reality with a burst of classic rock creativity, singer-songwriter Fabrice Duval demands attention with his profound but pleasurable sound. Originally a threesome, SkyCall formed a few years ago but life interjected, as it so often does, and each was set off to discover their own path. While officially dissolving in 2023, Duval’s path lay in continuing SkyCall finalising an album. Following his well-received singles ‘Amy’ and ‘Are You Ready Now?’, Duval releases his latest single ‘Stop Living With Closed Eyes’. Join us as we jump headfirst into the new track.
As with his previous material, ‘Stop Living With Closed Eyes’ was composed, performed and produced by Fabrice Duval with mastering by Alexandros Chrysidis. While ‘Amy’ and ‘Are You Ready Now?’ breathe life into old-school rock, ‘Stop Living With Eyes Closed’ is an overwhelming rush of vintage rock. Tossing you immediately into a hurricane of music, the crashing drums, scorching guitars and bold bass swirl about in a kaleidoscopic haze. Shoved from pillar to post, the new track whips your head in its melodic blast while simultaneously carrying you in a heart-pounding embrace of solid rock.
The melody itself is chaotic frenzy bound with a sophisticated sonic ribbon; it is the theme that enhances the song’s weightiness. Touching on the issue of capitalism, its impact of society, and the need to wriggle free, Duval explains:
“The starting idea was this thought of Ghandhi: if the power of love could replace the love of power, humanity would have accomplished its revolution. However, it must be recognised that we are still far from this ideal and that our world is governed by money… capitalism is certainly the most harmful of all evils because it is incurable! This song reflects this reality but encourages the listener to use their free will to reject all forms of control and to resist in order to live their life in peace.”
