SkyCall – Amy (2024)

Neuropsychiatrist by day and rock star by night and sometimes weekends, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fabrice Duval is a bit of an enigma. Filled with a passion for life, the France-based artist shares his love of music with audiences across the globe as SkyCall. Technically formed in 2019 with Luc Erwin, drummer Didier Hoffman, and in 2021 a line-up change as Amanda S. took over drumming duties, SkyCall charmed audiences with their rock sound for a few years. When disbanding in 2023 to pursue individual projects, Duval continued to hold the torch… and boy, we’re pleased he did.

Following the debut single ‘Wendy’, ‘Amy’ is “an anthem that revives the spirit of Lou Reed’s gripping narratives and the raw energy of Jimi Hendrix’s guitar…”. By bringing this classic rock sound to modern-day listeners SkyCall proves that music transcends time, space and distance like a silvery thread running along the generations as a “living breathing movement”.

Recorded, composed and produced by Duval, with mastering by Alexandros Chrysidis, ‘Amy’ is a powerful concoction of nostalgic drums, guitars, bass and vocals – all performed by Duval. Hitting the old-school rock sound with bold guitar riffs and heavy drumming, listening to ‘Amy’ is like sailing along a glistening kaleidoscopic river with the air of 1970s rock rushing past your face. Bright and shiny, twinkling fairies skip along with mischievous glances as you lay back and enjoy the ride; however, the laidback charm of this whimsical track veils a truly profound theme.

Using his skills as a neuropsychiatrist, each track is filled with a smile-triggering sound and intricate psychological insights. With dreamy vocals, ‘Amy’ delves into the complexities of the human condition. Duval shares that “the lyrics, which are ultimately about an escape into the imagination to avoid facing the fear that reality arouses, raising the question of reaching a turning point to open up to others…”

Sincere, sentimental and thought-provoking in its chilled-out manner, SkyCall wins hearts and questions life in the new single ‘Amy’.
