Sig And The Fire Pilots – Almost Out Of Time (2023)

Hailing from the UK, Cannock to be specific, Sig And The Fire Pilots fall somewhere between blues, pop, rock and reggae in their genre-diverse sound. Having formed just over one year ago and released their debut single a few months ago, one would consider Sig And The Fire Pilots to be minnows in a shark-ridden sonic sea. Do not be fooled. Along with their growing fanbase, the trio are turning the heads of critics and radio presenters across the globe. From Roadie Music to Sinusoidal Music, The Musical Hype, Plastic Magazine and many more, Sig (guitar and vocals), Dave (bass and vocals) and Duggie (drums and vocals) have been described as “emotive”, “addictive” and “compelling”.

Hot on the heels of their debut song ‘Click Bait’, Sig And The Fire Pilots release ‘Almost Out Of Time’. Moving from an electric punk-influenced indie-rock song, the lads adopt a calmer, softer and more soothing tone in ‘Almost Out Of Time’. Influenced by Bob Marley and John Lennon, this new single has your toe tapping to the chilled-out Marley reggae sound. From the charming guitars to bold drums, there is a mellifluous flow throughout the melody setting you adrift on a whimsical sonic river.

While ‘Almost Out Of Time’ is a calming song inducing grins, there is a juxtaposition between sunny and serious. Sig And The Fire Pilots explain that this single is “…a lament for the planet. Media is constantly reminding us that our world is running down. Global warming, wars over territory and religion, pollution of our seas and air, throw away culture…it seems obvious to me there’s a huge lack of pride and respect for this masterpiece that we call Earth.”

A response to the distressing aspects of our uncertain world, there is a degree of despair in ‘Almost Out Of Time’. The thing is, we’re far more likely to pay attention to this message with the song as a cheerful tune. Either way, Sig And The Fire Pilots have caught my attention and I am eager to see what else they have up their sleeve.
