Sick Souls – 7 Seas (2025)
Drawing together various cultures, experiences and influences with vivid, immersive, and vibrant music, Sick Souls is “a dynamic musical ensemble from… Brussels and Paris…” Fusing old-school sounds with contemporary vibes, the band have us join them on a mesmerising sonic journey brimming with highs, lows, and all-around soul-stirring melodies. Join me as we delve into Sick Souls with their debut single, ‘7 Seas’.
Penned and produced by François Olivier Nolorgues, Sick Souls blast onto the music scene with a fusion of bold drums, shimmering synths, and twinkles of keyboards waving in the background. Dragging me immediately back to the 80s synth-pop era, ‘7 Seas’ pulls you into a cinematic soundscape – particularly with the haunting vocals enhancing its surreal sensation. Interestingly, while the track appears a steady stream of music, a hit of hard-hitting, almost post-punk-esque tone overtakes the lighter sounds, making the song oscillate between bright lights and eerie darkness.
It seems odd, but despite having only one single to share, ‘7 Seas’ has such a soul-stirring quality that you feel entirely fulfilled without stepping beyond a few minutes of music. It’s like putting your headphones on, sticking on a whole album of your favourite band, then sitting back and enjoying every second of each melody as it fills your body with a ton of intriguing music – this is what happens with ‘7 Seas’.
Described on their YouTube channel as “Belle ambiance, hypnotique” and the “world needing more of you”, Sick Souls are winning hearts with ‘7 Seas’; and I must agree, the world needs more of their music. Poised to take their transformative sound across the globe, Sick Souls are about to embark on a world tour. I’m eager for the band to make their way across my side of the world and I suggest you keep your eyes (and ears) out for this highly recommended group!
In addition to their single, Sick Souls released an official music video for ‘7 Seas’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
