Sicily Jordan – You Got Me (2022)
Sicily Jordan first paid tribute to all the love songs that could have been in ‘Lonely Lover’, before turning inward for the soulful sound of ‘Gloriana’. Now, she is bringing a blast of futuristic and retro tones that get you dancing to the sound of ‘You Got Me’. Leaving you with a feeling of familiarity tempered by something wonderfully new, the single is a huge pop-dance track that is just bursting with energy.

Written during a blast of inspiration that saw the first line of the chorus running through her head, the single was not meant to be part of her debut EP. Once industry legend Barry Fasman heard the track, he had a different idea and the single was transformed into the engaging sound we now hear.
‘You Got Me’ pushes you through the opening as the melodic tones swarm your senses and head into a rather groovy bassline. The vibrations of the bassline bring a thrum of energy to the melody that really hits its stride on the chorus. There is a touch of old-school disco to the melody that is tempered by a more contemporary pop sound. There is a slight rise and fall to her delivery as the verses drop for a softer movement that leads to the burst of the chorus. Woven into her infectious performance is the same combination of new and old as the melody, that spins everything higher and higher.
