Shyfrin Alliance – The Cage (2024)

Drawing together the experiences, backgrounds and culture of various artists, Shyfrin Alliance brings a unique brand of blues-rock to listeners; all led by the man behind the band, Eduard Shyfrin. While the Alliance only began releasing music this year, the sophistication and masterful skill of the singles capture your heart like an old friend chatting about days gone by instead of a potential new acquaintance.
Following the singles ‘Whiskey Blues’ and ‘Unconditional’, ‘The Cage’ is another taste of Shyfrin Alliance’s upcoming debut album Upside Down Blues, set for release later this year. Adding another flavour to the band’s eclectic sound, ‘The Cage’ shifts from the sultry blues of ‘Unconditional’ to something dark, heavy, gritty and intoxicatingly experimental. Unlike previous work that travelled along a certain genre with edgy kicks of rock fluttering across, ‘The Cage’ is entirely inimitable and undefinable; truth be told, the best way to describe ‘The Cage’ is through its immersive nature.
As you tentatively enter the sonic cage, a soothing sense of alternative rock leads the way placing you in a comfortable space; however, this is merely the calm before a storm. With theatrical flair, dark metal tones ooze from the gruff vocals with an eerie presence tingling throughout your body. Oscillating from the depths of melodic metal to the sheen of classic rock, a rollercoaster ride emerges from optimistic keyboards to desperate pounding drums with searing guitars. You toss and turn attempting to steer clear of the overwhelming darkness and then, it ends with the clash of a single cymbal.
