Seßler/Zeeb – If You Believe Me (2024)
While Kurt Seßler and Werner Zeeb have several years of experience in the music industry playing with various bands, 2021 rolled by to introduce the world to the rock duo Seßler/Zeeb. With an eagerness to create an album of his original songs, Seßler sought out someone who could “implement written music into well-produced music” and Zeeb brought his poetry to sonic life. This is not our first time listening to the Germany-based pair having enjoyed their single ‘If No One’; however, their unique sound and intricate style make every listen seem like the first time you’re hearing them. Join us as we pump their new single ‘If You Believe Me’ through our speakers.
Following the well-received ‘If No One’, ‘If You Believe Me’ adopts a cheerier, more upbeat, jovial sound. From the outset, Seßler’s vocals seem to hold your hand ready to lead you through any dark situation. Trusting, that’s the term, the rich voice promotes a sense of trust in a listener because you know wherever he leads it will be fantastic and safe. The melody, however, is not so straightforward and comforting.
With a rollercoaster of sound, multi-instrumentalist Werner Zeeb sets out an intriguing path for listeners to follow in ‘If You Believe Me’ – almost like setting out on a course through the dark forest. Leaning toward the pop-rock tones of Genesis, the beating drum pulsates behind like a pounding heart ready for adventure. The plucky guitars wrap you in a hazy mist of kaleidoscopic fog and all seems grand but a lilt in the tune crescendos into hard-hitting guitar riffs with forceful rock intonations.
For me, the break between happy pluck and heavy rock is a stumble in the road – a pothole, if you will. It doesn’t stop anyone as Seßler and Zeeb lead you out with an even bigger grin.
“The song is about belief in magic. Just like the song says, “believe in the magic that we can create”. It emphasises the importance of endurance and trust in a higher power, despite the struggles of life… ultimately you have to believe in yourself for the magic to become true.”- Kurt Seßler on ‘If You Believe Me’.
In addition to the single, Seßler/Zeeb released an official music video for ‘If You Believe Me’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
