Seasonal Falls – Lie Down (2024)

Inspired by life in its totality, Switzerland-based Seasonal Falls oscillate from dark, grimy cradles of fear and angst to optimistic joy in their moving melodies. In January, Roman Gabriel and Andrew Pelletier navigated a journey of hopefulness quivering atop melancholy vulnerability in ‘Happy Dayz’. This was our introduction to Seasonal Falls, but we are not the only ones who had their heads turned. From the UK to the USA, Portugal, France and Australia, the rather new duo stood out like a shining gem in a pool of pebbles. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Lie Down’.

Known for “quirky indie music”, Seasonal Falls weaves elements of indie-pop, indie-folk and indie-rock through their tunes. Following their well-received singles ‘Happy Dayz’ and ‘Used To Be Fun’, Gabriel and Pelletier shift from a mostly folk-inspired tone to a whirling pool of indie-folk with strong leanings to indie-rock. A breath of nostalgia sweeps across ‘Lie Down’ reminiscent of 90s group Weezer offering the same laidback, chilled out, “take a break and breathe” vibes.

While a degree of sophistication exists in the production, ‘Lie Down’ removes the shackles of order to relax in the realm of cool calm. An acoustic composition it delves into simplistic guitars and hushed vocals with a toe-tapping grace as if you are lying down and a warm gentle breeze brings solace. Add moving lyrics promoting a sense of freedom and you have something set to soothe your soul. Seasonal Falls explains:

“Sometimes every day feels like a competition and oftentimes this is even our own fault. We want to become stronger, richer, travel to more places, buy more stuff, buy better stuff, learn more things and experience and achieve as much as possible in the time we have. This, and the many challenges thrown at us… might sometimes just be too much…. If you’re really in a bad place it might sometimes be better to just lie down and take some time to regain energy before moving on.”

In addition to the single, Seasonal Falls released a music video for ‘Lie Down’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.
