Seasonal Falls – Happy Dayz (2024)

Combining the emotional intimacy of Ed Sheeran and Elliot Smith with the nostalgic charm of The Beatles, Swiss duo Seasonal Falls offers listeners a dip into indie-folk with their magical music. Drawing together the natural talent of Roman Gabriel and Andrew Pelletier, a dash of nostalgic elegance meets contemporary flairs in the wistful tunes. As the band is rather new with only two singles beneath their belt, Seasonal Falls should be considered a newbie in the music scene; however, the sophistication of these established musicians shines through giving them something extra to stand out amidst the others. The latest single from Seasonal Falls is the track ‘Happy Dayz’.

Following the well-received single ‘Reach For Nearby’, ‘Happy Dayz’ gently shoves us into 2024. The first track off their upcoming debut album Happy Days, it introduces us to Seasonal Falls’s whimsical indie-folk style hinting at an elegant swoop of comfort in the new album – then again, don’t be fooled so easily. ‘Reaching For Nearby’ whispered sounds of The Beatles with a light-hearted pop charm but, ‘Happy Dayz’ is heavier despite the slow-paced, slightly melancholic draft of music. One element that is retained in both is the nostalgic nature and acoustic inspiration.

Penned as a sonic narrative of life today, Seasonal Falls sets you off on a glistening sonic river with delicate ease. The mystical fog plasters a heartfelt smile on your face ignoring the lyricism’s profoundness. Yet, we need to pay attention to the underlying theme despite it being veiled by a simplistic moving melody. Looking down, you see the tumultuous waves beneath with ripples heading your way bringing with them vulnerability, fearfulness, fragility, and despair. Interestingly, while sadness exists, a hint of optimistic hopefulness shimmers along the surface.

Fragile and delicate but confident and bold. Sincere and tender but tragic and cold. Seasonal Falls oscillates between the light and dark intimacies in life showing the good and bad, happy and sad, cold and warmth in the single ‘Happy Dayz’.
