Satellite Train – Lies (2022)
From the UK’s Lost In The Manor to Brazil’s Music For All, Satellite Train is reaching a global audience with its unique sound. Described as “…sonic euphoria with a heart-stirring performance” by Rock Era Magazine, listening to Satellite Train is nothing other than sublime. Originally a musical project between friends in the United States and Australia, this bundle of creativity burst out of its smaller package and started oozing passionate music to listeners. Come with us as we delve into their single ‘Lies’.
Following their debut single ‘Broken Heart’, ‘Lies’ is the sophomore release from a group of renowned artists. Drawing together the skills of Michael Paynter of Icehouse, John McCall of The Black Sorrows, John Watson of James Reyne, Randy Jacobs of Paul Kelly, Shane O’Mara of Paul Kelly, Pasquale Monea of Stephen Cummings, Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, and Jamie Muhoberac of John Mayer, there is a lot of natural talent floating about Satellite Train. Then again, I don’t really need to tell you about their history because Satellite is fresh, new and not any less awesome than their other projects. In fact, it possibly stands out amidst the rest.
As I said, ‘Lies’ is the lads’ sophomore release. Unlike ‘Broken Heart’, Satellite Train adopt an indie-rock tone but intertwine elements of jazz, blues and alternative rock into the melody. Full of surprises, you could attempt to categorise the group but truthfully, Satellite Train is a genre-bending and soul-stirring project. While some songs I have come across toss you about from pillar to post with blasts of music, Satellite Train take you on that bouncing-about journey but holds you in a soft, tender and comfortable grip when doing so. What I mean is the kaleidoscopic nature of ‘Lies’ is so intriguing with its smooth flow that you feel refreshed after jumping from genre to genre.
Sophisticated, sincere and heart-warming, Satellite Train (once again) spread a smile on my face and leave me breathless with their anthemic single ‘Lies’.
