Sarah O’Moore – See Ur High (2024)

Off the back of the release of her debut EP Social Paralysis back in May, Sarah O’Moore is back with a new single ‘See Ur High’. To quote BBC Radio Bristol‘s Adam Crowther, “When you hear her opening vocal, you’ll be blown away by how distinct it is”, which is a sentiment I totally agree with and sums O’Moore up perfectly.

With ‘See Ur High’, O’Moore delivers more of the same rich vocals we’ve come to expect paired with a track you tap along to for hours. Again she has showcased her passion for storytelling through music, exploring how easy it is to fall into a relationship that you know is right but somehow you can’t allow yourself to escape it. The most interesting aspect of the lyrics is how they delve into how self-medicating with drugs and alcohol can suddenly become the go-to remedy to cope with actions you know you should take but just can’t bring yourself to.

O’Moore has really committed to her sound and style, really embracing the age-old trope of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I view ‘See Ur High’ as just the next step in her journey to establish herself as a formidable name in music. Much like her previous work, simple jazz tracks have been elevated by her vocals, to fulfill the narrative she has set out to communicate.

2024 has already been a stellar year for O’Moore. If you haven’t had a chance to hear her singles ‘Troubled Mind‘ and ‘Forget What It Was’, both of which can be found on EP Social Paralysis, ‘See Ur High’ is your first foray into O’Moore’s work, then you have plenty more to indulge in. Let’s hope that if the output this year is anything to go by, we’ll get some more releases before the year is out.
