Saint Joshua – Self-(En)titled (2024)

Saint Joshua is no stranger to pouring his heart into his music, but with Self-(En)titled he cranks the emotional intensity up to eleven. This nine-track mixtape offers a deeply personal glimpse into the artist’s life while delivering all the grooves, hooks, and harmonies that fans of pop and RnB crave. Right from the opening notes of ‘Blah Blah Blah’, Saint Joshua proves why he’s one of the most exciting voices to emerge from the UK in recent years.

The mixtape flows effortlessly between upbeat bops and introspective ballads, creating a sonic journey that feels cohesive yet dynamic. ‘Sweet Talk’ is a sugary blend of sultry vocals and breezy production, perfect for a weekend playlist. Meanwhile, ‘Do U Ever Call’ dives into heartbreak territory, its poignant lyrics cutting deep without ever tipping into melodrama. It’s this balance of raw vulnerability and undeniable charisma that makes the project such a joy to listen to.

A true highlight is ‘Nasty’, a track that leans heavily into old-school RnB vibes with a modern edge. Its moody, atmospheric production contrasts beautifully with Saint Joshua’s soulful delivery, creating a moment that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Tracks like ‘Waterfalls’ and ‘Blessing’ further showcase his knack for layering intricate melodies, making them a treat for headphone listening. And then there’s ‘Next Flight to Paris’—a vibey, genre-defying gem that perfectly encapsulates the mixtape’s adventurous spirit.

With the help of a star-studded production team, including Blair Mackichan and Edbl, Self-(En)titled achieves a level of sonic sophistication that belies Saint Joshua’s status as a rising artist. Every beat, chord, and vocal run feels intentional, contributing to a soundscape that’s as rich as it is emotionally resonant.

As Saint Joshua continues to gain momentum with sold-out shows, international tours, and millions of streams under his belt, it’s clear that his star is only beginning to rise. Self-(En)titled isn’t just a mixtape; it’s a mission statement. And if this is the calibre of music he’s making now, the future is looking incredibly bright for this rising icon.
