Sahara CyberStars – Winds of Time (2025)

Unafraid to embrace, explore and celebrate life in its totality, Sahara CybersStars use evocative melodies to draw out life’s grit, enjoy its glory, and maybe resonate with audiences while they’re at it. Based in Australia, Dave and Trish Long are no newbies to the music industry with a history of over 30 years to their sonic journey, and with each song, chord and lyric, they continue to turn heads of audiences across the globe. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Winds of Time’.

Following the well-received 2024 single, ‘Modern Life’, Sahara CyberStars release ‘Winds of Time’. In ‘Modern Life’, the pair waded through the theme of homelessness in contemporary society drawing attention to the desperate social issue; they share: “The speed of life is increasingly exponentially and where has it got us? Are things better or are we being told they are while just surviving day to day…” With ‘Winds of Time’, a greater commentary and perspective of societal issues is viewed, hopefully connecting with listeners on a deeper, more intimate level.

Lyrically, the track delves into what is perceived as a, well, questionable and uncertain society that is sadly considered “normal” nowadays. Touching on the theme of greed, ‘Winds of Time’ denotes “…the power of greed came to plunder, pull our world asunder”. One might think the track to be a narrative of dismal reality; however, there is an intriguing lighthearted conversation where Sahara CyberStars point out how things have changed… and then the dismal reality. Speaking about stories we tell, passionate paths we’ve explored, and living for generations; nice, but rather poignant when listening to the final line of greed pulling us asunder.

The words are powerful, but the melody is as enticing and expressive. Blending elements of vintage soul with classic rock, ‘Winds of Time’ has a hard-hitting sweep of nostalgic music; I’ll admit, I believe this older tone and style might enhance the profoundness of ‘Winds of Time’. While Dave Long’s soaring guitars, keyboards and bold vocals leap toward the sounds of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, it is Trish Long’s alto sax and light harmonies that really tug at your heartstrings.
