Ryan Fischer – About The Future (2021)

Known for his award-winning personal documentaries screened at international festivals, Ryan Fischer is no stranger to the entertainment industry. Yet, while he has a reputation for great documentaries, it is through music that he found self-expression (even more than the programmes). Writing songs as a means of “getting through tough times” when he was struggling to make films, Fischer found a new passion – music. Initially meant to empower himself, the music won him over and now see him pursuing a career in the music industry.

Released earlier this year, ‘About The Future’ is Fischer’s debut single. Described by Sinusoidal Music as “a song that can go on to define a generation of people against particular agenda”, Ryan Fischer takes on provocative material with an evocative sound. A tongue-in-cheek track, ‘About The Future’ follows a disaffected protagonist feeling powerless and pledging to usurp control.

The dynamic guitars and Fischer’s rasping vocals are certainly a sonic representation of this message. Combining pounding drums with hard-hitting guitars, ‘About The Future’ has a powerful tune to engage with his fans on a melodic level. However, it is the boldness of his rich vocals and their gruffness that adds the aggression behind the melody.

In addition to his single, Ryan Fischer released an official music video for ‘About The Future’. Focusing on the life of cats, or rather the stuff they do during the day, the music video has a cute, warm and cuddly feeling about it. As the video has an old-fashioned VHS lighting effect, it can be difficult to watch for people with photosensitive epilepsy or chronic migraines. Watch at your own discretion.
