Rosie Alexandra – All I Wanna Do (2024)

For just on four years, singer-songwriter Rosie Alexandra has poured her passion for life, love and art into our ears. A weird thought, but the kaleidoscopic glow of Alexandra’s music touches ears, hearts and souls in a remarkable way. With a firm ground in the simplistic but intricate beauty of RnB, soul and gospel music, there is a heartfelt whimsy cocooned in her confident melodies. We came across Rosie Alexandra a few years back with her debut self-titled EP and today she crosses our path once again with the single ‘All I Wanna Do’.

From her native England to the USA, Australia, Ireland, France and Brazil, the Bristolian beauty is turning heads across the globe. Following her well-received track ‘How I Feel’ and an intriguing rendition of Mary Mary’s ‘Shackles (Praise You)’, Alexandra enters 2024 with ‘All I Wanna Do’. As compared to her heavy soul-filled ‘How I Feel’, ‘All I Wanna Do’ shimmers with a glint of pop woven through the sonic tapestry.

While ‘All I Wanna Do’ has the inclination of an electronic arrangement, it remains an acoustic treat. Collaborating with jazz guitarist James Sinclair, the melody proves you don’t need bells and whistles to make an impression. Recorded in the countryside of the Southwest UK, Alexandra was “at home in nature and found rest in the studio surroundings amidst the chaos of recording…” Moreover, much of the production was completed remotely so the “virtual choir” has the intimacy of closeness while split across various regions.

The melody is exceptional with a charming flair to its harmonic composition but, for me, it is Alexandra’s vocals that up the ante. Powerful, bold and confident, Rosie Alexandra sends shivers down your spine; however, simultaneously, a gentle breeze of vulnerability flutters through and caresses your cheek.

“’All I Wanna Do’ is a musical journey that celebrates the genuine beauty found in the simplicity of love and relationships of all kinds. In a generation obsessed with romanticising, captivated by extravagant gestures, this single invites listeners to rediscover the magic in the ordinary. Embrace the authenticity of connection and let ‘All I Wanna Do’ be your soundtrack….” – Rosie Alexandra on ‘All I Wanna Do’
