Robert Bacon – Out Of The Blue (2023)

Singer-songwriter Robert Bacon is patriotic, proud and mostly passionate about life. Raised in a military family, passion is at the core of his proud personality, and he oozes passion through his music. Influenced by life, love, loss, family and the human experience, Bacon has pursued a career in country music building a reputation for engaging melodies. From fairs, festivals and venues, his confident stage presence intoxicated listeners from the Midwest to Southern USA.

Described as fun, innovative and one who “revives the timeless traditions of country music” (Illustrate Magazine), Robert Bacon is turning heads with his masterful melodies. From France to Germany, the UK and his native USA, the up-and-coming artist captivates global audiences. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Out Of The Blue’.

Following his debut track ‘Drinkin’ Thinkin’’, Bacon dips into traditional country sounds with the toe-tapping, sing-along, laidback ‘Out Of The Blue’. Even though Bacon has only a couple of songs beneath his belt, which should make him a minnow in a shark pool, the US-based musician shows sophisticated elegance in his harmonic release. Capturing slips of legendary country artists like Alan Jackson and The Statler Brothers, Bacon’s music finds rawness of innocence and mature skills, then blurs it with a dusty kick of his boot.

Bold drums are veiled by a powerful guitar making ‘Out Of The Blue’ a typical country song embracing the power of country. What is most interesting regarding his music is not the anthemic country, but the roughness dragged into a tender single. Perfectly stuffing the single with a live session vibe, I can see (or rather hear) Robert Bacon playing to an entranced festival audience, as well as being the perfect song for a laidback day watching the sunset.

The melody is toe-tapping and filled with a moving passion, but it is the lyricism that brings a mellifluous sincerity to the track. Hugging us in a warm embrace, the rich vocals sing of the poignant moments when people discover they are taking something for granted – those breath-taking “what the hell” times. Bacon explains:

“There aren’t many people out there in the world who have been in a relationship and not taken it for granted at some point in their life. The realisation of that is real, and deep, and happens more often than we would all like to admit. Typically, by the time you have realised that you are messing up a good thing, they have already checked out, moved on, and your chances of making it work are over or historically low.”
