Robbie Rapids – In Our House (2023)

Traipsing across different flavours of rock, singer-songwriter Robbie Rapids is sharing his rock-inspired sound with audiences across the globe. Beginning as a vocalist and guitarist in various cover bands during college, his most well-known spot being the frontman for a Tom Petty Tribute, the US-based artist showed true prowess when it came to singing other people’s songs. Then he stopped and decided “I’m sick of that let’s try my hand at original releases”; after all, he had been writing original material since high school. From his debut single ‘Who Shot Them Down’ to the most recent ‘In Our House’, he continues to astound us with each chord.

On the heels of his well-received single ‘Rise Up’, ‘In Our House’ is Robbie Rapids’ fifth single in 2023. Teaming up with renowned producer and session musician David Levene, ‘In Our House’ steps into the realm of alternative rock with a slip of 90s pop-rock slithering through the melody. Beautifully arranged, the 90s pop-rock sound carries through with moving guitars and Robbie Rapids soothing vocals. Yet, as the song continues a punch of heavier music pushes to the fore. Pounding drums and a hard-hitting electric guitar hit you in the chest bringing a grungier, grittier classic rock tone to the track.

Just as the melody keeps you captivated with its powerfully brash but elegantly smooth vibes, ‘In Our House’ has a thought-provoking theme. While on the surface it appears to be a song about relationships and “playing house”, but it delves deeper into the emotions felt when going through a rollercoaster of endings and beginnings.

“A song about a young couple playing house in their relationship. This song is written specifically about her house and the feeling associated with break-up and reuniting.” – Robbie Rapids on ‘In Our House’
