Richard Yot – The Voice In The Silence (2025)
Embracing his passion for the arts, singer-songwriter Richard Yot finds light in audio and visual arts balancing his career as an illustrator with his musical endeavours. Already a successful illustrator and 3D artist, he has a reputation for professionalism, creativity and originality – and this is merely transcended to his solo musical project. Over the past five years, UK-based Yot has shared his music with the masses bringing an unconventional twist to the realm of post-punk, dream-pop, shoegaze and indie-rock. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘The Voice In The Silence’.
Following his 2024 album, Sparks, Yot saunters into 2025 with his single ‘The Voice In The Silence’. Similar to previous tracks like ‘Mirrors’ or ‘Lies’, ‘The Voice In The Silence’ drags us back to the 1980s with a vintage post-punk allure; however, just as there is a shimmering sense of The Cure in the song, a contemporary indie-rock edginess entwines with the nostalgic tune.
Self-recorded and produced, there is a rawness in the arrangement and composition, but the rawness enhances the intoxicating vibe in the track. Sliding along a shimmer of keyboards with pulsating drums in the background, ‘The Voice In The Silence’ is like a sonic river on which you look out. Charming and calm, serenity oozes from the melody, but a soaring guitar filters across like a wistful breeze stirring ripples in the water. Richard Yot explains:
“’The Voice In The Silence’ takes you on a journey. One that starts softly but then builds into something more intense and emotional… It’s not the kind of thing you hear every day, it’s a song for people who want to be transported by music…”
A song to be experienced and not only heard, ‘The Voice In The Silence’ ensnares your senses with its sincerity, sentimentality, and simultaneous vulnerability. One to definitely keep my eyes and ears on, I cannot wait for more from Richard Yot.
