Following the well-received debut single ‘Sunny Day’, Return Of The Human rolls into 2025 with the sophomore track, ‘Don’t Believe The World’. Produced by Dave Colquhoun with the musical stylings of Rick Wakeman on the piano, ‘Don’t Believe The World’ is a serene rush of folk music with the shimmering allure of soft rock and hints of indie-rock in the background. For me, this single is a drag back to the days of ’70s and ’80s folk-rock as it breathes life into the classic memories of yesteryear. Yet, as much as a nostalgic weaving exists in ‘Don’t Believe The World’, a peep of today’s indie-folk world is evident bringing freshness to familiar sounds.
Easy, laidback, soft and soothing – all words that can describe the effortless tranquillity of Return Of The Human’s music. With ‘Don’t Believe The World’, there is a luxurious sense of peace where you can sit, relax and simply be. Perhaps it’s the beauty of its acoustic soundscape as twinkles of piano caress the charming, peaceful vocals… yes, I think it’s that. A charm that quickly lifts you and sends your heart soaring but acts as an anchor of empowerment and acceptance.
Along with its tender melody, poetic sincerity oozes from the new single’s lyricism and overall theme.
