Randi – Dancing With A Broken Heart (2022)
Embracing music at a young age, singer-songwriter Randi discovered her natural talent during her high school years. She furthered her knowledge of music at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music where she studied choir, jazz and vocal arrangement. At the end of her college experience, Randi set forward with zeal to pursue her “delightful music production journey”. She went ahead to release her self-produced music receiving coverage from Less Than 1000 Followers, Iggy Magazine, Sanook Music and various playlists. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Dancing With A Broken Heart’.
Following her single ‘Always Will’, US-based Randi finds the line between Taylor Swift and Sade but with a far more obscure vocal execution. While a kaleidoscopic melody with a synth-pop meets indie-rock style, there is a simplistic thread woven through ‘Dancing With A Broken Heart’. Perhaps this is because of the evocative quality of Randi’s dulcet tones. In line with the melancholic theme of a “broken heart”, her voice oozes vulnerability, fragility and despair in its rich sound.
While the melody has a sonic depth, Randi showcases depth in her poetic lyricism. When speaking about ‘Dancing With A Broken Heart’, she shared that “I loved writing this song and every time I sing it live, I have to try not to cry. I was in such a low place in my life right before I wrote this song. It makes me sad to think I didn’t see how beautiful life is. I am resilient and I admire the strength it took for me to cope with my mental illness, my breakup and unpack recent traumatic events…”
Melancholic and poignant but also soft, soothing and gentle, Randi balances unhappiness with empowering positivity in ‘Dancing With A Broken Heart’.
