PREMIERE: Anika Joshi – Losing My Mind (2025)

Blurring the edges of jazz, soul, pop, and RnB, singer-songwriter Anika Joshi creates moving melodies out of pure passion. We recently featured her well-received single, ‘Running Out Of Time’ – a single exploring the complexities of relationships – and even though this was our introduction, we felt familiar and comfortable like meeting an old friend. Able to connect intimately with heartfelt sincerity, delicate fragility, and raw vulnerability, Joshi holds your hand while you twirl about in kaleidoscopic music. Today, we have the pleasure of reviewing her new single, ‘Losing My Mind’

Following the singles ‘Running Out Of Time’ and ‘Magnetic Glow’, ‘Losing My Mind’ softens Joshi’s tone as a smooth pop ballad. Joined by ARIA and Emmy-winning producer Sean Carey, we hear the sophistication of the track’s arrangement, creating a mature melody. Yet, bringing her tender sincerity and heartfelt fragility to the fore, ‘Losing My Mind’ hints at tumultuous yearning within the mellifluous flow.

A concoction of raw piano, swirling strings, and Beau Golden’s shimmering keyboard, ‘Losing My Mind’ offers the wistfulness of a soft ballad; however, this is not the journey Joshi intends. Reflecting on the emotional feeling of being caught in a relationship when the other person has already moved on, the melody lulls you into a sense of comfort with its piano and then crescendos with intimate intensity and painful tragedy. Interestingly, while there is a multi-faceted sound in ‘Losing My Mind’, it retains simplicity and barebones starkness.

Using music as catharsis, Australia-based Joshi pours herself into poetic lyricism and immersive tunes. When speaking about ‘Losing Mind’, she explains:

Whenever I feel the need to let out my feelings and express myself, songwriting has been the best relief for me. As soon as I sit down with my guitar and a notebook, I feel like there’s an endless possibility of words and melodies. This track flowed through my pen so easily because I wrote it in a therapeutic rush.”

‘Losing My Mind’ will be available to stream on the 10th of April, 2025.
