PolSky – Halcyon Daze (2022)
Taking inspiration from iconic bands like The Cure, Bloc Party, Joy Division and Duran Duran, UK-based PolSky brings the pop and post-punk sounds of yesteryear to modern-day audiences. The project of songwriter and music producer Kris Warren, PolSky formulates his own unique and eclectic sound. Featured on Rising Artists Blog, Sinusoidal Music, Less Than 1000 Followers, Roadie Magazine and various playlists, PolSky is reaching audiences far beyond his South London borders. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Halcyon Daze’.
Far from any traditional sound or musical landscape, PolSky has a strong eclecticism in its sound. Obscure is a word that comes to mind, but obscure barely scratches the surface when it comes to ‘Halcyon Daze’. Think of Duran Duran but with a far more pounding “in your face” attitude, and you might have an idea of what ‘Halcyon Daze’ is about. Transporting one back to the 1980s pop world, PolSky hit you in the face with the distorted single; however, while there is distortion in the arrangement, it has a melodic flow culminating in a mind-blowing listening experience.
Describing himself and other artists as “contemporary narrators providing the only reliable social commentary of the times…”, PolSky brings provocative poetry to audiences with their music. Expressing themselves with the hard-hitting ‘Halycon Daze’, we see (or rather hear) vulnerability and intense intimacy in this track. PolSky explains that the single is an “…introspective romp forcing us to take a look into the future we’re heading towards, which is now…a time when existential anxiety and the idea of death have been lurking uneasily in our peripheral thoughts with the message that once we find ways to acknowledge and accept these fears, we can take back control…”
A band formed by the people for the people, PolSky ensnares your sense taking you on a musical journey far beyond earthly realms. I cannot wait for more from this intriguing, obscure and exciting band.
