OUR NOISE – FLA (Mark Gardener Remix) (2024)
At a million miles per hour, Canadian group OUR NOISE rushes through your body, ensnares your senses, and leaves you stunned in the wake of their music. With a reputation for bombastic, dangerous and electrifying live performances, it’s clear that OUR NOISE can capture any live audience; however, their music takes their contagious sound far beyond their Toronto borders.
Born from the ashes of Sire/Warner recording act ACID TEST, Lucy Di Santo (lead vocals and bass), Dan Cornelius (drums and vocals), and Steve Fall (guitar and vocals) draw together various influences in their experimental sound. Ranging from 80s punk to 90s rock and a tinge of post-hardcore, OUR NOISE is an unconventional dabbling of heavier, harder and louder tunes. Today, we take a gander at their remix of ‘FLA’ with musician Mark Gardener.
Preceding OUR NOISE’s self-titled album, the trio join veteran artist Mark Gardener – most well-known as a former member of 90s band Rise – to remix their single ‘FLA’. Following a remix of ‘Blackmail’ with Peter Holmström, Gardener’s ‘FLA’ hints at a psychedelic kaleidoscopic sonic haze, but the punk-tinged force of the original song lingers within a smoother rock-influenced wrapper.
Could I define the Mark Gardener remix of ‘FLA’? Perhaps. Yet, just as there is a lean toward more indie-rock progression, its binding of dynamic drums, soaring guitars, bold bass and Di Santo’s eerie vocals make the track a tumultuous hit of bubbling chaos locked in eclectic obscurity. Confident and brash, but simultaneously mellifluous and smooth, Gardener’s take on OUR NOISE’s single is a luxurious delving into the gritter, glorious, and exciting realms of boundary-pushing sound.
Just as the remixes turn my head, I am eager to listen to OUR NOISE’s album – join me, won’t you? I’m certain we won’t be disappointed.
This is all about the remix, but why not take a listen to the original ‘FLA’? OUR NOISE released an official music video for ‘FLA’ that can be viewed below and on their YouTube channel.
