Onism E – Call You Home (2025)

Inspired by life in its totality, from the grittiness of tragedy to triumphant celebration, Onism E evokes raw emotion, connects with listeners, and brings a sense of intimacy with its moving melodies. An award-winning indie-rock group, the US-based trio have earned a reputation for the “rockier” side of indie music; however, with each song, Onism E weaves an eclectic originality sauntering through diverse genres. We last laid eyes (or rather ears) on Onism E with their 2020 single ‘Survivors’. Today, we take a headfirst dive into the most recent single on their discography, ‘Call You Home’.

Following the 2023 single ‘I’m Sorry’, Onism E saunters into 2025 with a folk-infused twirl of Americana with indie-rock tinges peeking in the back. Co-recorded and produced by Eline Chavez, Tucker Allen, and Britton Beisenherz, ‘Call You Home’ touches on vintage folk tones wrapped in an Americana sound; however, just as there is a country-esque vibe to the track, an almost indescribable indie style oozes from the melody – led by the obscurity of frontwoman Eline Chavez’s vocals.

An aspect I find particularly intriguing about ‘Call You Home’ is how the arrangement and production are sophisticated, while simultaneously filled with naïve rawness. Moreover, the layering and textures of the track allow for an off-kilter complexity with simplistic sentimentalities. Gabe Chavez (bass and keys), Andre Atalaya (drums and percussion), and Eline Chavez (guitar) weave together in harmonic unity. The thing is, just as the instrumentation acts as one layer, Eline Chavez’s vocals sail atop with individuality; it’s a separation of each element like a conversation with music playing in the background.

Melodically, ‘Call You Home’ is an intricate blend of conversation and music, but it is the lyricism that ups the ante. Vocalist Eline Chavez explains:

“It was written during a transitional time. I created the bones of the song while watching the world around us fall away from common decency and respect. The idea of home became an important piece of the puzzle for the song.”

Teetering on the edge of haunting discomfort and charming solace, ‘Call You Home’ is sincere, sentimental and profound. I cannot wait for more from the insatiable Onism E.
