Olivia Cox – Miss Me (2024)

At a young age, Olivia Cox knew what she was destined to do with her life: become a musician. Her passion for music began early on as merely a natural reaction to sing melodies, then she began writing songs. The songwriting bug took her, and the poetic lyricism captured raw emotions – even those seemingly insignificant teenage issues that are soooo important when you’re a teen. This is our introduction to Olivia Cox and honestly, we’re a little late to the party as she has been sharing her music for several years, but Cox has a way of making you feel you have known her for years; a familiar and comforting sincerity lingering in a first impression. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Miss Me’.

Following her well-received singles ‘23’ and ‘Around You’, ‘Miss Me’ is another insight into life as a young adult in the 21st century. Recorded and produced at Vancouver-based studio Headspace with Andrew Dixon, ‘Miss Me’ retains Cox’s synth-driven pop sound; however, elements of RnB and soul cling to the tune giving it an eclectic edginess.

As you listen to ‘Miss Me’, bold beats and silvery synths seep into your skin travelling along a whimsical state of bliss. Yet, just as the single radiates upbeat, laidback happiness, there is an intricate juxtaposition between optimistic surfaces and profound depths. Cox explains:

“’Miss Me’ is a catchy and energetic track with an underlying, slightly dark relatable message that I think young people in the dating scene today will connect with… how hard it can be when most people are focused on “hook up culture” and have trouble committing and trusting the other person involved… The title of the song ‘Miss Me’ is basically saying how we crave the feeling of being missed/wanted by the other person involved…”

In addition to the single, Olivia Cox released an official music video for ‘Miss Me’. You can view the video below or on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
