Olesia Giants – Movin (2024)
Immersed in the music world from a young age, singer-songwriter Olesia Giants sparked a flame for music as she travelled extensively with her circus crew exploring diverse cultures and themes. As part of a vibrant creative community, Giants’ bold personality attracts audiences across the globe. Inspired by styles and sounds from different worlds, the Ukraine-born artist flits from Oriental roots to hip-hop, pop and EDM in her melodies. This is my introduction to Olesia Giants, so hold your breath and cross your fingers as we dive headfirst into her eclectic discography.
Following her debut single ‘Diva Maria’, Olesia Giants saunters into 2024 with the track ‘Movin’. Shifting from lighter, laidback pop that could be placed alongside Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, ‘Movin’ explores a darker, moodier, gritty realm of electronic pop.
Listening to Olesia Giants is not a listening experience but a deep feeling of her melodies reaching your soul. In ‘Movin’ she sets you off on a glistening sonic river with subtle ripples carrying your comfortable boat along; however, while the surface promises tranquil sincerity, the tumultuous waves engulf you as the melody continues. Bold electronic beats pulsate while synths shove you along. Giants’ rich vocals send a rush of kaleidoscopic sound through your hair flicking showers across your face.
Despite the grimy grittiness of ‘Movin’, a seductive sensation flutters through the breeze. The rich vocals are powerful but with a hint of sassy sensuality lingering beneath. Self-produced, recorded and composed by Olesia Giants, ‘Movin’ is a testament to independent creative freedom, individuality and innovation with original ingenuity.
I’ll admit, my record collection does not lean toward electronic pop or EDM; however, I believe Olesia Giants will convert me with her music.
