NTGB – TILL I’M GONE! (2022)

Beginning as a bedroom recording project by Nick Thompson (lead guitar, bass and backing vocals) in 2020, the indie-pop group NTGB was just simple jamming in a “home studio”. Yet, in the past two years, the band has grown with Gaz Brown (vocals), Steve Graham (rhythm guitar), Andy Trainor (transistor organ) and Mark Cliff (drums) joining Thompson. Already established in the North East UK local scene, the lads are known for their engaging performances; however, it is only now that they are tantalising ears across the globe with their outstanding music. The latest addition to NTGB’s critically acclaimed discography is the single ‘TILL I’M GONE!’

Influenced by old-school guitar music, NTGB brings a nostalgic flair to their passionate melodies. In ‘TILL I’M GONE!’, the lads nod to the jangle-pop sounds of The Beatles mixing it with a 90s indie-rock flavour. Tossing you into a retro soundscape, NTGB invites the sounds of yesteryear to our eardrums; however, while the song is filled with nostalgia, there is a modern-day tinge giving it a sound that is unique – entirely NTGB and nothing else.

Following their single ‘THE END OF ALL WE KNOW’ where the group adopts a heavier 80s indie-rock style, ‘TILL I’M GONE!’ is far poppier with an upbeat nature. Recorded with Dave Curle at First Avenue Studio in Newcastle, UK, the new single has a melodic melding of guitars, drums and keys; however, it is Gaz Brown’s vocals that really turned my head. Soft, soothing and velvety, he seems to hug you close with his soulful voice while the others swirl about you in a jovial sonic whirlpool.
