Ninni – Have Fun (Remastered) (2023)

For the last three years, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer Ninni has been entertaining audiences with his music. Beginning as a guitarist in the local indie scene of Naples, Ninni has a sophisticated, elegant sound, but retains his grassroots foundation. Intertwining English lyrics with a passion for Neapolitan culture, there is a depth, honesty and bold expression of his Italian heritage to global audiences. Featured on FV Music Blog, Music For All, Roadie Music, Karl Is My Unkle, New Indie Radar, and R+ Podcast, Ninni is reaching listeners far beyond his Italian borders. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’.

In an interview with Lost In The Manor, Ninni shared that “…an artist has the role of making the world richer, more beautiful and harmonious through his songs and works…”, and he achieves this role in ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’. This is not to say that Ninni’s previous material is less engaging or inspiring, but ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’ is one that aims to share a provocative societal insight while connecting with individuals on a deeper, more intimate and vulnerable level.

“The lyrics of the song remind us that we cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of others and how often we are powerless in the face of all this…” – Ninni on ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’

Inspired by the works of Queen and Radiohead, Ninni’s new single is overwhelming in its style, sound and presentation. A classically inspired stance in the “sort of overture”, such as in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, but adding a disco-style bounce and alternate duration to the track. An expression of contemporary, uplifting bounce with a serene sophistication, Ninni demonstrates his eclecticism, obscurity and innovation in ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’.

Penned last year and self-produced, Ninni intoxicates listeners from the first beat. With a smooth opening, there is a world music vibe lifting your soul into a shiny sonic bubble filled with kaleidoscopic lights. Once you feel a soothing comfort in the synth-driven melody, a crash of drumbeats and guitar wash over you thrusting you into a sonic whirlpool. The keyboards retain an ambient musical haze keeping you hypnotised with the hazy ambience. Yet, while a chaotic whimsy exists, Ninni’s vocals add serenity to the dulcet expression.

Distorted with a general feeling of disconcertedness, there is a slightly unnerving tone to ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’, especially when the string section comes up with charming complexity. The thing is, while obscurity dominates the single, a soothing, happy and calming sensibility slivers through the melody. Are we having fun with ‘Have Fun (Remastered)’? Yes!!!
