Nick Noon – Costumes (2022)

Inspired by life in its entirety, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nick Noon looks to connect with audiences through his intimate music. Compared to the likes of Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams and Bob Dylan, the US-based artist’s melodies are evocative, provocative and poetic both melodically and lyrically. Despite having only two releases on his Spotify, Noon is already building a loyal international following with features on Sinusoidal Music, The Static Dive, Indie O Clock, Edgar Allan Poets and various playlists. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Costumes’.

The first release since his two-track EP Don’t Let The Papers Get You Down/ Dear Delilah, ‘Costumes’ is an eclectic fusion of various genres. Incorporating elements of indie-rock, folk-rock and chamber-pop with sprinklings of country in the melody, Nick Noon showcases his diversity and talent as an artist. The dynamic guitars elegantly flow with pounding drums; however, it is the interspersed keys and horns that add a soulful flair to the song. Slather the obscure arrangement with Noon’s rich vocals and you have something distinctive – a sound that is truly Nick Noon.

As I mentioned, Nick Noon aims to connect with his audience through music and this is evident in ‘Costumes’. Not only is he drawing the interest of diverse audiences, but his passion for life is woven into the intriguing song. An eclectic composer, ‘Costumes’ sees Nick Noon creating his own musical style to captivate ears and send souls soaring – “…through this release, Nick Noon is establishing himself as a force in the scene…striking lyricism will have listeners hooked and wanting more with his carefully crafted, poignantly composed and mesmerising musical compositions…”

Sincere, sentimental, nostalgic and one-of-a-kind, the insatiable ‘Costumes’ is something that will stick with you for hours (or even days) to come.
