National Park Radio – Wander (2023)

Embracing music, family and adventure, US-based duo National Park Radio is a celebration of life – the good and the bad bits. Formed approximately 10 years ago, Stefan and Kerrie Szabo have grown from a couple of people making music to a band reaching international audiences with features on Arkansas Online, Send Me Your Ears, Karl Is My Unkle, Up To Hear Music and various playlists. Moreover, their performances with The Turnpike Troubadours, LOCASH, and Kevin Fowler have earned them a reputation for engaging, heartfelt live music. One of the most recent additions to their discography is the single ‘Wander’.

Beginning the year with a blast of indie-folk music, National Park Radio release their song ‘Wander’. On the heels of the single ‘Waiting For Winter’, ‘Wander’ lies somewhere between John Denver and Mumford And Sons. Taking the contemporary indie-folk sound, Stefan and Kerrie Szabo connect with modern-day listeners; however, a nostalgic flair drags old-school John Denver-style folk to the 21st century. A sublime combination of guitars, drums and interspersed piano has you falling in love with ‘Wander’. The thing is, while the pair lull you into a comfortable zone, as the song progresses, they become bolder, more robust and full-bodied. By the final guitar crescendo, you are under the power of National Park Radio.

As I mentioned before, National Park Radio is inspired by life in its entirety and ‘Wander’ is all about adventure and travel. The band explain that ‘Wander’ “…reminds us that life is all about the journey rather than the destination. Scattered with imagery from some of the most iconic landscapes…this warm, upbeat track represents a revelation for National Park Radio…”
