Natalie Clark – Mission (2023)

After giving up a teaching career to pursue a music career, singer-songwriter Natalie Clark found herself grabbing the attention of iconic artist Christina Aguilera and turning the head of Richard Branson. In season 10 of the US show, The Voice, Clark was praised as having a “cool, powerful voice” (Christina Aguilera) and being “incredible” (Blake Shelton). From there, she toured the USA with the award-winning band Indigo Girls, received critical praise from various publications, featured on BBC Radio 1 by Nick Grimshaw, and was hand-picked by Richard Branson to sing at a BBC Radio 1 Academy session (Branson later described her as “inspiring” and “absolutely and utterly stunning”). A true force of nature, Clark is establishing herself as a prominent pop artist on an international scale.

Following her well-received single ‘ARMOR’, Natalie Clark releases the new song ‘Mission’. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Todd Spadafore, ‘Mission’ is a soothing package of contemporary pop. Sophisticated and powerful, the swarming of synths and beats surround Clark’s vocals as if placing them in a sonic pool. It is this swarming in the arrangement that gives Clark’s voice prominence drawing listeners into its mystical sound.

Hushed but bold. Toe-tapping but breathtakingly stupefying. Sincere and confident but with a raw vulnerability, ‘Mission’ captures the core of human essence in just under three minutes. While the melody certainly has an intoxicating flow of pop passion, it is the poetic lyricism that really hits home. Empowering and optimistic, Natalie Clark sets off on a mission to make people feel heard with ‘Mission’ – it’s really what it says on the tin. Clark explains:

“I brought the song idea to Todd and then we worked through the production to try and create a powerful, fierce atmosphere. I wanted a really tough and strong sound to reflect the lyrics and empower the listener.” – Natalie Clark on ‘Mission’.
