Natalie Clark – A Place Called Home (2024)

It all began when Sir Richard Branson spontaneously invited singer-songwriter Natalie Clark to sing onstage at a BBC Radio 1 Academy event; then describing her as “…absolutely and utterly stunning”, Clark realised her life was changing. Embracing the carpe diem concept, she took the bull by the horns and followed her heart on a musical journey that would take her to the USA. From a classroom in Scotland to festival stages in Los Angeles, Clark is quickly establishing herself as a prominent feature in the pop music scene. Come with us as we delve into her latest single, ‘A Place Called Home’.

Following her critically acclaimed 2023 singles ‘MIRACLE’ and ‘FREEDOM’, Natalie Clark steps into 2024 with ‘A Place Called Home’. Produced and recorded with Todd Spadafore, the single is a precursor to her new album, an intimate narrative of her personal journey. I’m unsure of her track placement or the other singles she has, hopefully being released soon, but ‘A Place Called Home’ adds a profound insight to a “rolling stone” concept.

The ”rolling stone” concept acknowledges the need to keep moving to explore exciting situations and experiences, but with the vulnerability of isolation… never really fitting in or finding someone who understands. Interestingly, just by releasing ‘A Place Called Home’ Clark connects with listeners who feel that no one understands saying that at least one other person can relate.

A concoction of twinkling keyboards, bold beats and shimmering synths, ‘A Place Called Home’ leans toward the pop genre; however, Clark is no one-trick pony. Instead of retaining the synth-pop sound of ‘MIRACLE’, she highlights her genre diversity inserting a hint of indie-pop with lingering undertones of indie-rock as the song peters out. ‘FREEDOM’ hit a soulful style, and the soulfulness can be heard once more in her rich, warm voice.

Sincere, sentimental and introspective, ‘A Place Called Home’ oozes vulnerability but embraces confident empowerment. I cannot wait for more from this talented musician.
