Naomi Cheyanne – Believe (2024)

Discovering her passion for music at a young age, singer-songwriter Naomi Cheyanna was recognised for her talents early in life. Performing and penning songs as a child, she immersed herself in RnB and pop genres finding a distinctive sound to entertain audiences. Her poetic lyricism weaves through moving melodies and in 2021, the US-based Cheyanne released her debut EP In My Home; however, while this turned heads internationally Cheyanne was already a major bleep (not a small blip) on numerous radars across the globe. From her debut single ‘Heyy’ in 2018 to the 2022 track ‘See You Later’, her podcast Beyond The Bounce and beginning an independent production company Smug Sounds, Cheyanne has grown from strength to strength with her astounding endeavours.

Following her critically acclaimed singles ‘Sip’ and ‘Waiting’, Naomi Cheyanne steps into 2024 with her latest single ‘Believe’. Recorded and produced by long-time collaborator Daniel Robert, with mastering by Irvin Johnson, Cheyanne shifts from the rich soul-influenced combination of horns, keys and piano in ‘Sip’ to something more intense in the RnB-driven ‘Believe’.

Layered atop a shimmering sea of synths and bold pulsating beats, Cheyanne’s obscure vocals stand out in a rich, warm but simultaneously urgent manner. Interestingly, while the track has a simplicity of powerful electronic pop tones running through RnB vocals, it is kaleidoscopic in its intricacy and overall delivery.

Only one-and-a-half minutes in length (give or take a few seconds), ‘Believe’ surges with intense intimacy harkening to a soul-stirring tune and profound lyricism. With complete confidence, Cheyanne’s vocals are delicate and fragile but ooze compelling conviction. Light and dark; strong and vulnerable; demure and formidable, ‘Believe’ taps into self-discovery, resilience and empowerment with its poetic lyrics. Cheyanne explains:

“’Believe’ is a snapshot into a moment of unwavering self-confidence and realisation one finds in the face of doubt and non-believers… this record encourages listeners to tap into your unfiltered identity and take that leap of faith.”
