Track of the Day: N4November – Constant Reminder
The brainchild of Australia-based singer-songwriter Alex, N4November blends elements of pop-punk, pop-rock and indie-rock in a unique fashion. Formed in mid-2021, this fresh artist is still quite new in the sea of music; however, he has on Tongue Tied Magazine, Less Than 1000 Followers and Fruit Sonic. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Constant Reminder’.
Find No Enemy described N4November’s debut track ‘Dear Friend’ as a step out of their childhood bringing waves of happy memories. Personal and powerful, he retains this intense intimacy in ‘Constant Reminder’. Recorded in musician Rich Mammoliti’s home studio, the track has a hard-hitting pop-punk vibe. While the introduction lifts you into a soothing bubble of sound, a quick movement to heavier, rock-inspired shoves you into a sonic whirlpool.
Blending powerful guitars with pounding drums, ‘Constant Reminder’ takes me back to the days of Good Charlotte and Sum 41. In fact, N4November shares that ‘Constant Reminder’ was “…initially inspired by the chord progression and strumming pattern of the song ‘Pieces’ by Sum 41.” Unlike his previous work (read our review of ‘Dear Friend’ here), the song is not necessarily a coherent tale but rather an almost three-minute mash of “mumbo jumbo”. Don’t get me wrong, the song has a thematic concept of exploring daily life, it’s just more eclectic and really focuses on emotions.
Raw honesty, sincerity and sentimentality rule N4November’s ‘Constant Reminder’. For me, it also has a strong sense of nostalgia mixed in with the tenderness. N4November is an ambassador of 90s/2000s pop-punk in 2022 and a constant reminder of its awesomeness. Yes, I know that’s an embarrassingly cheesy pun but it’s true.
