My Turning Point – The Eulogy (2025)

Personal, intimate, and filled with raw emotion, singer-songwriter My Turning Point (also known as Leon Evans) shares melodies that are windows to the soul. Like reading a diary entry, his discography breathes whispers of a human’s delicate fragility bound by an intricate veil of breath-taking, heart-breaking vulnerability. This is my introduction to the Welsh musician, but he somehow holds you close like an old friend sharing stories over a cup of tea. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘The Eulogy’.

Following the well-received singles ‘Planet Earth’ and ‘A Little Love’, ‘The Eulogy’ is a passionate rush of profound poignancy and dramatic tragedy. Similar to that diary entry, the single explores the complexities of friendship – or rather the complexities of regret, loss and tumultuous despair weighing heavily on one’s heart. My Turning Point explains:

“This song is a perfect encapsulation of the grief of loss. A genuine, sincere expression of a real event that ended a life-long friendship, not a corporate song writing by numbers, by a songwriting committee of multiple people. A song that is both incredibly personal and yet utterly universal in its expression of grief and loss.”

Lyrically, ‘The Eulogy’ tugs at your heartstrings as you lose yourself in the poetic words; however, it is the melody that ups the ante of pure, vibrant emotion. Self-recorded and produced by Leon Evans at his home studio, ‘The Eulogy’ is a simplistic combination of acoustic guitar, shimmering piano, and James Blunt-esque rough vocals. In fact, My Turning Point shared that this song wouldn’t be out of place with James Blunt’s ‘Goodbye My Lover’ – and I have to agree.

‘The Eulogy’ has a minimalistic approach with an almost stark arrangement; however, just as simple as might appear, its barebones attitude and sentimentality are enhanced by a kaleidoscopic union of the instruments. Interestingly, while this sonic whirlpool can leave you floundering, there is a soothing sense of acceptance and understanding somehow keeping you afloat.

In addition to the single, My Turning Point released an official lyric video for ‘The Eulogy’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
