Musician of the Month: When ‘Airy Met Fairy

Consider the situation: an Icelandic princess meets a Luxembourgian lord, and they embark on a journey leaving an ethereal melody everywhere they go.  This is When ‘Airy Met Fairy.  Alright, so maybe it isn’t, but Thorunn still has the look of a delicate Icelandic princess and Mike could rock one of those fur-lined cloaks.  Outside of my imagination, the Nordic duo known as When ‘Airy Met Fairy has toured extensively and gained a strong following with their unique sound.

In an interview with The Other Side Reviews, Mike Koster stated that WAMF began when he met Thorunn Egilsdottir at a festival.  He enjoyed her show, went backstage to tell her, shared a beer (or two), and before they knew it they were performing in France.

The apostrophe in ‘Airy is for the French H which would make it a hairy fairy, and I heard that means something really nasty.  Insider info from a friend in London. –  Mike Koster

The band released recently released a video for their single, ‘Until The Season Dries’, showcasing Thorunn’s fragile voice alongside a highly artistic performance.  Keeping it in the family, WAMF worked with Runa Egilsdottir as an art director for their official music video.  The album, Glow, will be released in July 2018 and follows a UK tour.  You can see the video below.
