MRXM – Whoosh (2024)
Back in 2018, Purpel J and Don Mars decided to blend their natural musical talent and create the duo MRXM. It began when Mars wrote and recorded his first verse on an MRXM beat, and the rest is history. With a diverse range of influences, inspirations and skills, the US-based duo fuse elements of RnB, rap and hip-hop in their melodies giving us a groovy vibe, hard-hitting beats and powerful lyricism. Compared to the likes of EarthGang and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, MRXM (an abbreviation of Moon Rocks On Mars) delivers unique duos and harmonies in tantalising tunes.
While the pair began their musical journey in 2018, it was in 2020 that they released their debut single ‘Feel The Vibe’. From ‘Feel The Vibe’ to ‘Dream Vacation’, ‘Summer’ and the self-titled album in 2022, MXRM are reaching audiences far beyond their US borders. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Whoosh’.
Following the track ‘Daily’, Purpel J and Don Mars blast into 2024 with the new song ‘Whoosh’. Sauntering further into the realm of RnB, smooth electronic beats carry the mellifluous synth-driven song; however, a tint of brashness exists with bold beats pulsating like a heart beating in the background.
It is true, RnB is the name of the game with ‘Whoosh’ but the slick of rap floods into a hip hop vibe. Rich vocals teeter along the RnB meets hip hop instrumental with firm boldness in their tone. Yet, as with the fusion of different styles, a soulful voice swooshes through filling the track with a soothing, tender rush of kaleidoscopic music.
Confident but with a heartwarming sincerity. Mellifluous but with an abrupt urgency. Enchanting but with a piercing brashness. MRXM offer a true whoosh of sound, style and sensation in the aptly titled single ‘Whoosh’.
In addition to the single, MRXM released an audio video for ‘Whoosh’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
