Moonlight Jones – Hot Night (2022)

Master guitarist Moonlight Jones is fusing the sultry vocals of Karina Iglesias with his slick guitar skills in the heated ‘Hot Night’. An exquisite blend of fever, passion and blissful ecstasy, the single dips into Latin music, before spinning into the glowing heat of affection. Inspired by Jones’ love of different cultures and their music, he offers us his own love letter to Latin culture, tapping into how it shaped him as an artist.

Following on from the fusion of Flamenco, rock and RnB of his last release, this track has a polished and dance-worthy flow that is sure to get you moving. Jones’ love of cultures and music has seen him travel across the globe as he delved into how music can open new worlds of creativity. His musical career began with a job for graphic designer Kyle Cooper, before he branched out into sound engineering and film score production, before he met up with Nino Valentino last year and unleashed his music on the world.

The sultry heat of ‘Hot Night’ enters from the first note with the Latin-inspired guitar line. The guitar curls out from a cascade of twinkling tones to twirl around you like the humid heat of summer nights. A moving beat joins the guitar to get you moving to the rhythm, whether that is a shimmy or a body bop. The Latin vibes of the guitar are clear in the run of notes that lead you to the seductive horns. There is no way that you can listen to this melody and not feel the urge to move to the flow. Each new instrument that makes its way into the melody brings its own burst of heat and seduction. They combine for a passionate movement that builds through the single, coming to a head in the chorus through the vocals.

Sliding out across the beats are the backing vocals that bring a swell of heat that cradles Jones’ vocals. There is a sultry dance that weaves through the humid air of the melody on the verses that draws you into a tale that has different meanings, depending on how you look at it. The lyrics have been carefully crafted to bring a tale of falling in love with someone you meet on a hot night, but this can also be viewed as falling in love with a culture or type of music. This secondary meaning is enhanced by the melody and each new musical line that enters. Iglesias’ vocals swirl around Jones’, bringing a wonderful entwined texture to the track.

Moonlight Jones immerses us in the heat of ‘Hot Night’ as he twines sultry vocals with the flair of Latin instrumentation for a sultry yet danceable vibe. The melody builds in layers with each new instrument bringing its own blast of heat to the humid warmth of the track. Jones’ vocals dance with the lyrics for a seductive tale that has you utterly enthralled.
