Moon and Aries – FIRENIGHT (2024)
Transcending time, distance and melodic genres, cross-continental duo Moon and Aries prove that finicky time zones mean nothing when it comes to creating music. Embracing remote collaboration, Canada-based Jordana Moon and Germany-based Tom Aries bring intriguing profoundness to soul-stirring melodies. We first encountered Moon and Aries in 2021 with their track ‘Cold’, and since then we have listened and gazed in pure astonishment. Of course, we aren’t the only ones intoxicated as award-winning Moon and Aries “provoke thoughts, evoke emotions and elevate consciousness acting as a beacon toward self-discovery”.
Following well-received singles ‘A Love Revival’, ‘The Affirmation Journey’ and ‘Nothing To Lose’, Moon and Aries affirm their genre-diverse sound with ‘FIRENIGHT’. From the moving shift of classical piano in ‘The Affirmation Journey’ to soulful jazz meets RnB tones in ‘Nothing To Lose’, ‘FIRENIGHT’ is a tantalising burst of electronic pop with sizzling synths wafting about like kaleidoscopic fireflies. Interestingly, while the melody has you twirling about in a dark soundscape with taunting beats reaching out in every direction, ‘FIRENIGHT’ is both haunting and soothing. For me, dance songs tend to be overwhelming in their pulsating electronica and hypnotic haziness; however, ‘FIRENIGHT’ is soulful electricity.
While the melody has an innate complexity, ‘FIRENIGHT’ is far more than a silky veil pulled across your skin. It has an insatiable tune, but its significance lies in the profound theme and concept. Moon and Aries explain:
“’FIRENIGHT’ is a chill electronic dance, house song about ascending out of darkness. Transcending the dark night of the soul. Burning the old world and building the new. Resurrection and rebirth…”
In addition to the single, Moon and Aries released an official music video for ‘FIRENIGHT’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
