Molosser Crude – Slave To The Voices (2025)
Ever wonder what Ella Fitzgerald cushioned in a mash of delta blues, hard rock and metal would sound like? Wonder no more as Molosser Crude has the answer. Hailing from Sweden, Tess (vocals and drums) and Jahn (guitar) entwine hints of old-school jazz and soul with bands of hard rock and melodic metal in their moving melodies. As Molosser Crude, the duo offer passion, power, raw authenticity, and originality in their eclectic brand of sound. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Slave To The Voices’.
Following a series of live singles (according to Spotify), ‘Slave To The Voices’ is Molosser Crude’s swagger into 2025 with a studio-recorded tune. For me, the vivid vibrancy of Molosser Crude’s sound is to be experienced and not merely heard.
A suave combination of soul-filled blues guitar, the pair lead you into a sonic cave glittering with kaleidoscopic gems in the dark walls. Walking awestruck deeper into the cave, Tess’s powerful drums catch your breath pushing you into a whirlpool of sound. Mid-way through the track, a dip into hushed drums and guitar acts like an eye of the storm before engulfing you in a rush of metal-filled music.
In my opinion, ‘Slave To The Voices’ is the perfect title for this track. It is as if the instruments and Tess’s vocals are “the voices”, and submitting to the soul-stirring, heart-tugging music is “being the slave”. Intense and dark buzzing with an almost palpable sense of doom, the glittering cave is crushing (metaphorically of course); however, for some strange reason, the rich vocals and hints of delta blues prick a burning light in the dismal cave.
This is my introduction to Molosser Crude, so I was unsure what to expect. What have I found? A thrilling sound that crawls into your cranium, rocks about your brain, sends shivers down your spine and leaves you in skin-tingling fascination.
