Mitch Rocket – Worry Less (2023)
What began as a pre-Covid solo project grew into the US-based indie-rock band Mitch Rocket. Drawing together the skills of Alan Onymous (drums), Jazzy Geoff McConohy (saxophone and keys), Oscar Garcia (guitar), Iwami Ryu (bass) and Mitch Rocket (vocals, guitar and saxophone), the Mitch Rocket band has been astounding audiences with their powerful stage presence and intriguing sound since June 2021. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Worry Less’.
Described as “just the right ratio of noise to music…”, the Mitch Rocket band draw together elements of indie-rock and post-punk with a side of jazz lurking about the soundscape. Following their live EP Live at the Art Boutiki, ‘Worry Less’ brings a layer of indie-rock to our ears with that sensational sliver of sax-driven jazz running throughout the sonic tapestry. Taking a step closer to the rock-inspired tone, Rocket explains that this sound is “a full transition from quarantine bedroom project to a more rip-roaring five-piece rock band…”
Filled with punchy guitars, pounding drums and an upbeat, toe-tapping sound, ‘Worry Less’ sends you twirling about in a brightly coloured fog with a cheerful grin on your face. Upbeat and happy but also relaxed and soothing, there is a balance between get-up-and-jive and sit-back-and-chill. The inclusion of the sexy saxophone enhances the vivacity and unique appeal of the Mitch Rocket band. Add the dulcet tones of Rocket and you have a punchy, infectious tune that will stick with you for days to come.
“’Worry Less’ is a feel-good anthem about letting go of your ego and finding joy and connection through music with the people around you… The music was written specifically to get a crowd bouncing around to the beat, having a good time, and well, worrying less.” – Mitch Rocket on ‘Worry Less’
