Miron – Long Nails (2023)

Despite having only four singles to his name, including the one we are about to review, Miron is quickly building a reputation for passionate, engaging and eclectic music. Only two years behind him, this so-called newbie singer-songwriter is not a newbie at all but a refreshing gem in the sonic pool of pebbles. From Less Than 1000 Followers to Roadie Music, Mystic Sons and Music For All, Miron has been described as “…an enthralling force in the music industry” (ViViPlay) and “…exceptional” (We Write About Music). Come with us as we delve into his latest single ‘Long Nails’.

Following his well-received tracks ‘Too Deep’, ‘With Your Eyes’ and ‘Plague’, Paris-based Miron shifts to an electropop sound in ‘Long Nails’. Beginning with a strong rock-inspired style in previous work, Miron swirled you into a world of alternative rock, indie-rock and some post-punk. In ‘Long Nails’ however, that sonic whirlpool evolves from a darker haze of sound to something bright with a shimmering bubblegum pink disco vibe. This evolution in his style showcases Miron’s versatility and genre-diverse musicality.

“I wanted to explore a different genre and bring in some fresh elements while still staying true to my sound. The 80s influence in this track represents a time that has always fascinated me. I wanted to bring that feeling back and share it with my listeners.” – Miron on ‘Long Nails’

While ‘Too Deep’ had a simplistic sense of vulnerability within the melody, ‘Long Nails’ tips everything on its head with a completely new approach. High-paced, upbeat, jovial and toe-tapping, the shimmering synths tingle your skin in sonic sublimeness. Drawing on the 80s disco vibes, Miron evokes a nostalgic flair in the new single, but a modern-day uniqueness exists. I can easily hear ‘Long Nails’ being played at those platform-heeled, disco-light floors, John Travolta dancing in Saturday Night Fever discotheques. However, I can also hear the infectious song blasting alongside Billie Eilish and Shawn Mendes in the most popular club in town.

Old but new. Light but heavy. Bright and innocent but with a simmering sensuality in the mix, Miron captures our hearts with ‘Long Nails’.
