Milyssa Rose (ft. C-WIZ) – Lost At The Seams (2024)
If you’re searching for an artist fuelled by raw passion and scoffs at the industry’s limits, then you’ve found her in Milyssa Rose. With a burning desire to create and share original music, singer-songwriter Rose takes music by the hand dragging it across her unconventional sound while bringing audiences along for the ride. From rock to hip hop and varying degrees of pop, her melodies have turned heads for over a decade (give or take) featuring on notable publications, radio stations, television programs, and charity collaborations, and even made their way to the UEFA playlist.
An eager supporter of various charities, Milyssa Rose has featured on several projects from fundraisers to being filmed for W.O.W.W Ministries’ domestic violence project. Tipping her hat at the complex issue of mental health in today’s society, she releases her new single ‘Lost At The Seams’.
Following her well-received four-track EP Control, US-based Rose collaborates once again with hip hop musician C-WIZ on ‘Lost At The Seams’. Willing to dive into the provocative area of depression, anxiety and suicide, she looks at the grittier side of mental health and brings it to the surface lyrically and melodically.
Similar to her previous track with C-WIZ, ‘Lost At The Seams’ incorporates a hip-hip tinge to the melody; however, the overall tune follows something a bit more eclectic. Along with C-WIZ’s signature rasping vocals piercing the song, Rose uses a sinister blend of dark pop and alternative rock adding eerie depth to the track. For me, a grunge-tipped rawness exists in its execution, particularly with Rose’s gruff voice.
Recorded and produced by Papi Hey of 2Gran Productions and remastered by Bank Hard Beats’ Keith Kosmopolis, ‘Lost At The Seams’ may appear sinister but there is an underlying soothing to push Rose’s powerful message. It is this internal duality that elegantly captures the raw struggle of mental health with an empowering acknowledgement of support. Confident but fearful, powerful but vulnerable, ‘Lost At The Seams’ is beautifully complex and sincere.
