Miist – Move Your Body Slowly (2024)

Miist may not be a child prodigy, but her work is prodigious; moreover, its origin is serendipitous. Only two years ago, one of Miist’s friends insisted she had a natural talent for songwriting and composition – Miist disagreed. To prove her inaptitude, she attempted to write a song… it backfired but in the best way possible. In these two years, the pianist and singer-songwriter composed over 50 songs, worked with a legendary producer, reached international publications and radio stations, and hit the iTunes charts with her single ‘Remember Me Again’ – and remember, she expected to fail.

Following her single ‘I’m Not Afraid To Dream Again’, the 33-year-old artist releases her recent single ‘Move Your Body Slowly’. Produced and co-written with award-winning producer Narada Michael Walden (Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston), ‘Move Your Body Slowly’ is a dynamic disco-inspired dancefloor delight. Dabbing her hand in various pop music flavours, Miist shifts from a serene pop ballad to an electronic pop bounce with exceptional pop clarity.

Not set for fame or fortune, Miist focuses on a pure, intimate connection with her audiences. Miist explains: “I’m just expressing myself honestly and I’m being who I am… It’s a difficult time we’re in. People are suffering in so many ways, so I want to bring some light to this world. Even if I’m writing about a subject that is dark, I always end with the feeling that we always have hope…”With ‘Move Your Body Slowly’, she connects in a rhythmic, infectious and heart-warming way.

Swarming with smooth synths and a strong beat, ‘Move Your Body Slowly’ rushes across your face with its flowing sound; however, it is the silky luxuriousness of Miist’s vocals that leaves a lingering caress. Interestingly, while her soothing vocals are delicate with an intimate fragility, there is bold confidence pushing positivity, optimism and tender joviality.

In addition to the single, Miist released an official music video for ‘Move Your Body Slowly’. You can view the video below or on her YouTube channel.
