Michael Suddes – A Lost Art (2025)

At the tender age of 13, singer-songwriter Michael Suddes discovered a passion for music – to play the guitar, if you want to be specific. From that moment on, it seemed to be fate for Suddes to share his fiery passion with the world. Delving into the world of folk music, the US-based artist saunters through different pools of folk, infusing each element into a hearty folk-inspired tone. I know I said folk a lot there, but it’s true. We came across Suddes with his debut single, ‘I’m A Bird’ in 2022; today, we take a gander at his most recent song, ‘A Lost Art’.

The first single release since 2022’s ‘I’m A Bird’, one might consider ‘A Lost Art’ to be Suddes’ return to the streaming scene. In the while, he has been honing his sound, composing new music, and connecting with audiences through his confident performances showcasing his powerful stage presence, dedication to the craft, and vibrant musical journey.

Joined by producer Sam Weber, ‘’A Lost Art’ is a husky concoction of bold drums and soaring guitars entwined in old-school indie-folk. One aspect I find intriguing is the duality of the single. Interestingly, while ‘‘A Lost Art’ has a subdued folk tone with Suddes’ hushed vocals enhancing its comforting rush of calmness, the track also stands tall and ensnares your senses, similar to the brashness of an alternative rock tune. Moreover, the confidence and strength breathing in the track entwines with a deep sense of vulnerability, fragility and raw emotion.

Last year, Suddes recorded his full-length debut album – an album focusing on self-worth, self-discovery, and the imperfect journey of simply being. The lead single from this album, ‘A Lost Art’ delves into the realm of self-love and explores the complexities of relationships. Suddes explains:

“‘A Lost Art’ is a love song without bias… Whether in a romantic relationship or not, the first relationship you are in is with yourself. The good, the bad, the dark, the light, the peaks and valleys, ‘A Lost Art’ asks the question: “What if everything about you is my favourite part?” Because to love purely and wholeheartedly, we can’t pick and choose just the perceived good parts without loving every part.”
