Matt DeAngelis – Change Your Ways (2022)
Inspired by life in its entirety, singer-songwriter Matt DeAngelis tries to put a positive spin on issues – even the bad stuff. At age 8, DeAngelis embraced his passion for music and since then has been honing his skills to create something relatable, entertaining and thought-provoking. Already featured on The Other Side Reviews, we are aware of the US-based artist’s work; however, we are not the only ones singing his praises. Featured on Sinusoidal Music, Lost In The Manor, Illustrate Magazine, Its All Indie, TJPL News and various playlists, DeAngelis is reaching audiences on an international scale. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Change Your Ways’.
Recorded at Musically Speaking Studio and Gradwell House in Southern New Jersey with producer Tom Conran and Billy Kennedy (who also happens to be an outstanding guitarist), ‘Change Your Ways’ is a melodic arrangement of pounding drums, dynamic guitars and a heart-breaking piano. Driven by the piano, DeAngelis enhances the intense intimacy of the profound single speaking about “…the ever-polarisation of attitudes that have become prevalent during the past few years.” Interestingly enough, while the song opens with a pop ballad style, it soon progresses into classic rock with heavier instrumentation and a guitar solo to take your breath away…then he ends with a simplistic piano outro.
Passionate and intriguing, ‘Change Your Ways’ is a song that will touch your soul, send it soaring, but also have you thinking about “your ways”. DeAngelis’ rich vocals elegantly meld with the flowing movements moving ever faster to push the significance of the song’s concept – changing attitudes. DeAngelis notes that “lightening always strikes when you least expect it; it’s a wake-up call”; listening to ‘Change Your Ways’ is the lightening strike we all need to pay attention to climate change, mental health and every other significant issue facing our society.
