Martyn Scott – Lazy Days and Lullabies (2023)

Primarily a guitarist, Martyn Scott embraced his passion for music at age 17 when he picked up his beloved instrument. Since then the multi-instrumentalist has had the opportunity of touring across the UK at notable live venues, including supporting The Bootleg Beatles at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Inspired by artists like Oasis, The Smiths, The Beatles and The Stone Roses, Scott brings a nostalgic pop-rock meets Britpop sound flowing through modern-day indie-rock melodies. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Lazy Days and Lullabies’.

Described by international blogs as “a singer-songwriter who weaves magic into his music…” (Sinusoidal Music) and “…effortless as far as it is relaxing and soothing” (Find No Enemy), UK-based Martyn Scott is turning heads on a global scale. Following the single ‘Into Love’, ‘Lazy Days and Lullabies’ is Scott’s blast into 2023 being his first release this year. As with ‘Into Love’, there is a strong Beatles influence as Scott embraces his inner Paul McCartney in the new song with a tender, heartfelt flow. Yet, while you can effortlessly place Scott alongside the Beatles on a playlist, Scott has an intricacy to his arrangement that sets him apart.

Bold, rich and powerful, Martyn Scott’s vocal execution is heart-warming but with a unique melancholic obscurity. Interestingly enough, while the song has a hard-hitting intensity, the soft vocals and mellifluous instrumentation make it simultaneously gentle and calm. Just as Scott is a brilliant vocalist, it is the guitar solo that highlights his passion as a musician. Bringing a slight Oasis meets Eric Clapton tone to the melody, this naturally talented singer-songwriter sends multi-coloured sonic lights twirling about your head with a sound that is purely Martyn Scott.
