MARBL – A Song For Mom (2023)

Described as “delicate and stunning…” (The Revue), “spectacularly impressive…” (Stereofox) and “emphatically harrowing and hauntingly harmonic…” (Odd Nugget), singer-songwriter MARBL is establishing herself as a musical force of nature. Inspired by the likes of Big Thief, Norah Jones, Laura Marling and Cat Stevens, Tel Aviv-based MARBL (also known as Moria Or) oozes creativity with a passionate sense of indie-folk and pop in her tunes. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘A Song For Mom’.

Glancing into her first musical passion, MARBL is currently working on a unique piano project beginning with ‘A Song For Mom’. Simplistic in that the song is entirely piano driven with tender vocals woven into the melody, ‘A Song For Mom’ captures the beauty of minimalistic music. Yet, despite its stark, bare-bones style, the intricate rise and fall of the piano melded with warm vocals is kaleidoscopically evocative. In fact, the composition proves how a single instrument can be as expressive as a symphony orchestra.

Haunting with an intoxicating flair, MARBL’s new single prompts a sense of melancholy with the complex piano; however, the song is actually a positive one promoting the joy of a mother’s love. A song for her mother, MARBL explains that her mom “…knows best how to plant the confidence and passion in me, to do whatever my heart desires the most and quiet down the voices of fear. She is an eternal home to me where I can find endless support, listening and unconditional love…”

Reminiscent of Tori Amos and Norah Jones, obscurity flows through ‘A Song For Mom’ with an elegant arrangement. Interestingly, while the arrangement is sophisticated, MARBL’s heartfelt vocals bring a sense of innocence, wistfulness and raw honesty to ‘A Song For Mom’.

In addition to the single, MARBL released an official music video for ‘A Song For Mom’. You can view it below or on her official YouTube channel.
