Major Pink – Love Me Loud (2023)

No stranger to the music industry Icelandic artist Major Pink has been playing his unique music for over six years. Beginning his career with the award-winning composer, musician and songwriter, Bardi Johannson, Major Pink soon developed a style that stands out among the rest. From his debut track ‘Hope’ (released in 2014) to the latest ‘Love Me Loud’, Major Pink has been turning heads internationally receiving awards, featuring in films, and reviews in various publications. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Love Me Loud’.

Following his track ‘Move’, ‘Love Me Loud’ is a hard-hitting fusion of pop-punk, indie-rock and pop-rock. Unlike ‘Move’, Major Loud shows his more aggressive and ferocious side in ‘Love Me Loud’. Immediately tossing you into a kaleidoscopic whirlpool, the pounding drums and powerful guitars spin you about at a million miles per hour. A dizzy headiness intoxicates you leaving you gasping for breath; however, while the chaos ensued and builds a frantic sound, there is an underlying harmony between the distorted instrumentation. Add Major Pink’s rich vocals and you have something completely inimitable.

Moving from his signature electropop sound, Major Pink not only showcases his versatility but also his innovation as an artist. What I find intriguing about ‘Love Me Loud’ is not the ferocity or bedlam, but how this tumultuous melody elegantly aligns with the profound theme.

Penned as a song about celebrating women’s courage as they stand against the patriarchy and against men who have abused them, ‘Love Me Loud’ is empowering as well as furious. Bursting with angst and anger, the track gives a nod to raising awareness of assault and harassment. The interesting thing is the track tells the tale of abuse from the perspective of different men. Major Pink explains that “with these lyrics that tell the tale of these three types of men, I am doing my best to learn, grow and understand what the victims of this kind of abuse go through.”
