Mahad – Still The Same (2023)

Drawing on his love for poetry and passion for music, singer-songwriter Mahad brings us tender, warm and intimate melodies. Raised in Stockholm, Sweden and having lived in London, Mahad immersed himself in the flourishing world of RnB music creating a sound that is old-school but modern-day. With only three singles to his name, including his latest release ‘Still The Same’, Mahad can be considered a minnow in a sonic shark pool; however, his penchant for music will see him succeed – or that’s my opinion. Come with us as we delve into Mahad’s music.

Following his double-sided single ‘All About You’, Mahad continues his familiar but fresh sound with ‘Still The Same’. While leaning toward the intimacy we hear from Lauryn Hill and Boyz II Men, Mahad inserts a strong soulful pop-ness into his music. Reminiscent of Ed Sheeran, his dulcet tones carry across a soft, smooth ballad. Traipsing across synth-driven beats, there is a sensuality to ‘Still The Same’ whispered throughout the track.

Just as the melody holds its own with the wistful, whimsical ambience, the profoundness of this sonic fluttering is heard in the lyricism. Drawing on personal experiences, Mahad injects a poetic intensity to resonate and connect with listeners on a deeper level.

“I think we’ve all had a relationship that was hard to let go of. A first love we hoped would be our last but no matter how hard we try, how many times we start over, it always ends the same way…inside of us we have this hope that if we try one more time it will be different. This is what ‘Still The Same’ is about.” – Mahad on ‘Still The Same’

Sincere, sentimental, tender and reflective, Mahad releases his new single ‘Still The Same’.
